What is an electric actuator?

An electric actuator converts electrical energy into torque and normally falls into two types of classification, solenoid and motor actuators.

A solenoid is electromagnetically operated; where as a motor operated actuator uses an electric motor to control the mechanism. An electric actuator is considered to be one of the most precise actuator types, due to its ability to provide a greater control of profiles such as position, torque, force and velocity.
